Questions we hear most
If yours is not here, call or send the form.
How do I know a plumber is licensed?
Look in the footer of this page for the license line and its lookup link. You can check the number with the state yourself.
What does a visit cost?
The visit fee and hourly rate are told to you on the phone before we come. Bigger work comes with a written estimate that says what it includes and what it does not.
Is there an extra charge for evenings or weekends?
Heating-season no-heat calls run every day until 8 p.m. at the posted rate. We tell you the rate before we leave the shop if a night visit is ever needed.
Will I get a price before you start?
Yes, in writing for anything beyond a small repair. Nothing starts until you say yes.
Do you pull permits?
Yes, for boiler, gas and plumbing work that needs one. The estimate says who pulls it and what it adds.
How long does a boiler replacement take?
It depends on the house and the permit. We give you the schedule with the estimate, not before we have seen the boiler.
Is my house at risk for lead or galvanized pipe?
Houses built before 1986 may still have lead solder or old galvanized pipe. If you are unsure, ask us to look at the pipes during any visit.
What happens if a pipe freezes?
Shut off the main water, open the faucets and call us. Do not use a torch or open flame on a frozen pipe.
Do you service gas piping?
We connect the boiler's gas line and test it. If you smell gas, leave the house and call 911 and your gas utility first.
What areas and hours do you cover?
Hartford and the towns listed on our home page. Hours are in the footer of every page.
